Access Education Trust Fund (AETF)

 

Access Education Trust Fund is dedicated to ensuring that girls in Somalia can enjoy

their right to a quality education, from early learning opportunities all the way through

secondary school.

 

Access Education Trust hopes to take significant steps in improving access to girls'

education because it recognizes the benefits associated with accessible education as it

improves gender equality, economic well-being of women and society’s overall social and

economic development.

 

In partnership with our development partners (AETF) mobilizes resources towards the

Education of the Somalia Girl-Child through the delivery of safe learning environments,

qualified and motivated teachers and non-teaching staff, provision high quality teaching

and learning materials and promotion of innovative solutions to improve quality of

education and learning

 

Our Mission is to educate, equip and inspire all girls to achieve their full potential and

enrich their communities.

Our focus is to prepare each student with academic skills that are necessary to pursue

a career or to continue higher education upon graduation and make a positive difference

in their communities and Somalia in general. We stress the need for total development

of each girl: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical.

We work in close partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher

Education (MoECHE), whose vision is to Fulfil the right of every Somali to education and

build an adequate, well educated, better skilled and competent workforce that

contributes to the spiritual, economic and human development of the nation.

Objectives

The Objectives of Access Education Trust Fund (AETF) are as follows:

  • Provision of Barrier-Free education for girls in a safe and friendly environment.

Free from all forms of harassment, violence and discrimination.

  • Increasing the enrolment and retention rates for girls in school
  • Ensuring girls benefit from a full cycle of quality education by empower girls and
  • young women with relevant knowledge and skills and assist in their transition to
  • post-secondary education or the workplace.
  • Improve the capacity of female teachers and non-teaching staff to effectively

manage learning institutions and respond effectively to emerging issues.

  • Improve the hygiene and sanitation situation for girls in learning institutions and

support their menstrual needs.

  • Guidance and counselling
  • Provision of scholarships and bursaries for needy girls (students)
  • Skills development
  • Make available scholarships and bursaries to girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
